1. How long does it take to grow garlic from a bulb?

Garlic can take almost 10 months to grow before you are able to harvest the bulbs. Depending on the variety you have planted it you have planted in Autumn, they can be ready from early June to late July.

2. Can you just plant a garlic bulb?

Planting garlic bulbs is very simple. Break up your bulb of garlic into individual cloves, then plant each clove about an inch below the surface of the soil. Make sure the pointy end of each clove is facing up.

3. What month do you plant garlic bulbs?

Garlic is most often planted in the fall (between late September and November) and harvested in the following summer (between June and August). In areas that get a hard frost, plant garlic cloves 6 to 8 weeks before the first fall frost date, before the ground freezes.

4. Do garlic bulbs spread?

Each clove, if planted in early spring or autumn, will produce a new head. If left to its own devices, garlic will eventually form a small clump as its bulbs spread over the years.
