Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Can you grow foxgloves from seed?

Foxgloves are easy to grow from seed and will give you the most amazing early display of flowers in your garden. If you are growing flowers to sell or simply want to be able to cut flowers for your own home then I can recommend Foxgloves.

2. What month do you plant foxglove seeds?

Foxglove seed can be sown between April and July either undercover or direct sown outdoors where they are to flower. Plant out the previous year's seedlings or larger plants in April or May, plant out spring sown seedlings in the autumn.

3. Can you just scatter foxglove seeds?

With foxgloves in particular: Scatter the tiny seeds thinly into a tray of moist seed or cuttings compost. Press the seeds gently down to make good contact with the surface. Foxglove seeds need light to germinate, so don't be tempted to cover them with compost.

4. How long do foxgloves take to flower from seed?

Sow foxglove seed in cell packs or flats, press into soil, do not cover. Light aids germination. Kept at 65-75° F., germination is in 14-21 days.
