Best Butter Chocolate Biscuits of 2026

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. How do you make homemade chocolate biscuits?

Mix the flour with cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt and add to the mixing bowl – mix until just combined. Shape the dough into 16 walnut-sized balls, flatten them a bit and place on the baking sheet with some space in between. Use a fork to press a criss-cross pattern into the cookies and bake them for 5 minutes.

2. What does adding butter to biscuits do?

The cold chunks of butter are important because as they melt into the biscuit while baking they create tiny pockets of steam that puffs and lifts the dough. These pockets turn into that beautiful light and flaky texture we crave with biscuits.

3. How can I get my biscuits to rise higher?

Make sure you chill the butter for 30 minutes (it will cool faster when cut into pieces). Doing so ensures that the fat doesn't melt and produce greasy, leaden biscuits. Then heat the oven to 500 degrees; the high heat produces maximum steam, which encourages the biscuits to rise as high as they possibly can.

4. How do you make biscuits fluffy?

Move the cooled biscuits to an airtight container. Plastic containers or tins will also work, but you have less control over the amount of air sealed in with the biscuits. Biscuits stored this way may dry out faster than usual. Another option is to wrap the biscuits up tightly in a few layers of foil or plastic wrap.
