TO USE : Fill them with ash or sand so you can stand incense sticks or cones in them, or use charcoal discs and fresh incense resins. If using charcoal discs the metal gets very hot so they need to be put on a suitable heat proof surface.
Versatile heavy duty solid cast iron bowl, approx. 7.5cm tall by 8cm wide. Use for burning charcoal discs with incense resins, wax melts or incense cones or sticks.
LOG BURNERS : These are great for using with wax melts on a log burner or stove. Saves the need for tea lights and they look really good on top of log burners. But see the caution warning below for more information on how to use them this way.
CAUITON : You must wait for the log burner heat to die down before putting the wax melts in (the cast iron burner will be fine on the log burner at any temperature but without wax in). This is important because the flash point (that's the point when something can go on fire) of most wax is above 200 degrees celsius so the log burner temperature must be below that for wax melts to be used. Don't use coconut wax melts as the flash point of this kind of wax is lower. If you notice the wax smoking at all, remove the incense burner from the log burner (you'll need suitable heat proof oven gloves or tongs) so that the wax can cool down. Do not leave unattended.

Frankincense was at one time worth more than gold. It was also one of the gifts given by the three wise men to the baby Jesus. The scent is strong and evocative. As this is a natural product the particles sizes vary, however we recommend crushing them into small pieces anyway as we find this is the most efficient way of burning the incense.

NATURAL Please remember these are a natural product. The smudge you receive may be slightly different from the image shown. Use all the parts, including the woody stems.
DIRECTIONS Turn the smudge to around 45 degrees, light the end, allow it to flame for about 30 seconds and then blow out. Cedar smudges are often packed very tightly together. If your smudge is difficult to light this is probably the reason why. Simply tease the end apart to allow air in. Alternatively break pieces off and use them separately. Use a suitable container such as a shell to hold the lit smudge in.

HOW TO USE To burn the resin you will need a suitable heat proof container. You can use any heat source such as coal, a heated stone or charcoal to put in the container, but we recommend specially designed charcoal discs (also available from The Smudge Stick Shop). Simply put a few pieces of resin on top of the heat source. As the resin heats up it will give off its wonderful smoke.
GRANULE SIZE Please note this is a natural product so sizes vary but generally the granules range from around 1mm to 15mm. Our preference is to break up the larger granules in a pestle and mortar because we find the smaller granules are easier to blend with other incense resins. We also find the smaller granules burn more evenly and cleanly on charcoal discs.
