Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What is the most sanitary dish scrubber?

Scrub Daddy ranked highest in drying time and doesn't hold onto food articles or build up odors (it's also dishwasher safe), making it the most hygienic of the sponges we tested. For extreme jobs, the Scotch-Brite is a top-notch performer.

2. What is the best way to sanitize a kitchen sponge?

Place the sponge in the top rack and run the machine through a heat-dry cycle to disinfect the sponge. The longest, hottest cycle is most effective, but any heat-dry dishwasher setting will kill the germs in your kitchen sponge. To maintain a healthy kitchen, it's important to clean kitchen sponges once a week.

3. Are kitchen sponges sanitary?

Sponges may contain millions of bacteria. And, it only takes a few to get you sick. Using a paper towel or disinfectant wipe to clean countertops will help reduce the chances of spreading germs with your sponge. Wring out your sponge completely after each use and wash off any loose food or debris.

4. What is better than a kitchen sponge?

Bamboo dish cloths are a great sponge alternative. They're strong, absorbent and substantially more eco-friendly. Each bamboo sheet can be washed and reused about 100 times making them perfect for spills, dust and so much more.
