Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What colour squid jig is best?

Orange is best when the water clarity is down. Pink squid jigs are probably the most used by squid fishers and as such catch a lot of squid. Pink is considered by many to be the preferred fall back colour when others are not working.

2. Are squid lures good?

Squid jigs are all fundamentally the same thing with subtle changes, yet some are definitely better than others. The more expensive Japanese brands are better due to their build quality, sink rate, the angle in which they sink and their colours and designs.

3. Does a squid jig need a swivel?

The use of a swivel theoretically is to reduce line twist. But with the addition of swivels, depending on sizes, it can have an effect on the descend angle and speed of your squid jig. When I squid, I don't use a swivel, but I do use just a very light snap. This is mainly for the ease in changing jigs.
