Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What lures to use for carp?

Baits to Use: As above, Sweet corn and bread are two of the best baits to use for carp but nightcrawlers (earthworms) are excellent as well. For bigger fish and longer fishing sessions hard boiled baits or 'boilies' as they are known are excellent to use on a hair rig. They really do tend to catch the bigger fish.

2. Do carp take lures?

Carp have four typical habits, but there's one that particularly signals they're likely to take a lure: When fish appear to be resting, or hibernating and aren't actively moving, forget it, you're probably not going to have much success. This often looks like the fish are sleeping or moving slowly and lethargically.

3. What attracts carp the most?

Corn is a classic choice of Carp bait, be it whole kernel, peaches and cream, frozen or canned; all are considered staples in the Carp-fishing industry. Almost every fish can be caught with corn.

4. What is the best attractant for carp?

Amino acids are the number one attractant for carp. Several studies have been carried out that show carp are highly attracted to amino acids. Amino acids can be found in food that you can use in your homemade attractant, or you can purchase commercial attractant with amino acids already added in.
