Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. How do you attract chub?

Chub will go for virtually any bait, such as maggots and worms (providing there are not too many smaller fish to steal the bait first) but many anglers swear by bread in all its forms as well as cheese either on its own or mixed up with breadcrumbs to produce a strongly flavoured paste.

2. What lures do chub like?

Chub love surface and shallow running lures and small floating crank baits are my number one choice. There are so many to choose from but my starter for ten is the Fox Funk Bug in the 4cm Shallow Runner or 5cm Deep Runner.

3. What do chub feed on?

The Chub is a predatory fish and tends to live together in shoals, although larger specimens usually become solitary. The staple diet of the young fish are small invertebrates with older Chub also feeding on small fish, insects, small crayfish, fruit and berries.
