Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Can I use emulsion paint on bricks?

Yes! you can paint brick slips with emulsion paint. Although emulsion is not what would generally be used, this product will cover brick slips.

2. What kind of paint do I use to paint brick?

When selecting a brick paint, ensure it is a latex paint designed for brick or masonry. If you're painting the interior of a brick fireplace, make sure you're using heat-proof paint too. You can use a paint sprayer for a larger surface area, or a roller or brush for any size area, depending on your preference.

3. Can I use emulsion instead of masonry paint?

As a general rule, masonry paint is used to paint the exterior of your property, whereas emulsion tends to be more for internal use. The main reasons for this are that emulsion is at all weather resistant. If exposed externally, emulsion paint will not last.

4. Can you use regular wall paint on brick?

Painting Your Interior Brick Begin by applying a coat of latex primer and let dry completely. Use either an elastodynamic paint or a regular acrylic-latex blend for your paint color. Elastodynamic paints are especially well-suited for brick because they have a high elasticity that fills in cracks.
