Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Are plastic or wire crates better for dogs?

Generally speaking, more substantial dogs do better in wire crates. Wire crates feel bigger than plastic crates. Although small dogs can use a wire crate and large dogs can use plastic, if you have a large-breed puppy, you will want to look into the wire crate options.

2. Are plastic dog crates safe?

Plastic dog crates are great for dogs who are always traveling. These crates keep dogs secure while they're on the go — whether in the air, on a train, or in a car. When you're searching for a plastic crate, you should pick a crate that's durable, well ventilated, and airline-approved if you plan to fly.

3. Can a dog sleep in a plastic crate?

Plastic crates are sturdier and often feel more secure for your dog, as the walls are mostly solid. However, there are very sturdy metal crates that can be purchased, and you can always cover a wire crate with a blanket if your dog needs more privacy.
