Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Are EE phones unlocked 2021?

Most devices sold from July 2021 are no longer locked to EE, so it's worth checking to see if your device is locked to our network. If it's locked, it's free and easy to unlock. How to check a device lock status: Android - try another network SIM in your device.

2. Do EE give unlocked phones?

We can unlock EE phones and tablets if they've been owned before, as long as the device is over six months old and has not been reported as lost or stolen. There's a charge of £8.99 for us to unlock a second-hand EE device (that's been handed down or bought on eBay for example).

3. How much do EE charge to unlock phone?

It's free to call, or costs 25p per call if you're on Pay As You Go. You can see all EE contact numbers here. If your phone is second-hand, call 0800 956 6000 to unlock.

4. What Sims will work in a EE phone?

Networks like BT Mobile, Plusnet Mobile and 1pMobile piggyback on EE's network for coverage. It isn't necessary to be an EE customer to get coverage from EE on your mobile phone. This is because a number of other mobile networks also offer EE coverage.
