Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Is it guide rope or guy rope?

They're called Guy Ropes, not Guide Ropes or Guylines. When setting them up: make them taught and pegged as close to the tent as possible. Don't attach them to trees, fences or other tents.

2. Why are guy ropes called guy ropes?

People also (mistakenly) call it guide wire. The name guy wire is derived from the term guy: defined as a rope, cord or cable used to steady, guide, or secure something. Guy wire is a tensioned cable that is both lightweight and strong.
