Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. How do you extend a face mask strap?

Look for a tie-back mask that doesn't have an elastic ear loop. Anchor your ear loops on buttons sewed onto the side of a headband or hat. Try a ear-saver clip that's positioned at the back of the head and used to hold elastic ear loops.

2. How do I make my mask strap more comfortable?

Andujar Vazquez recommends the use of an adjustable mask extender strap that attaches your mask's ear loops at the back of your head rather than resting on your ears, saying "[the extender straps] can make it better fitting."

3. What do you do when your mask straps are too long?

If your mask is too big, you can shorten the ear loops to make it fit closer. Do this by tying a knot in each ear loop. Make sure the knot sits behind your ear and doesn't pull the top and bottom of the sides together, as this will open up a space for air to flow in and out.
