Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What are cylindrical magnets?

Rod (cylinder) magnets are long, circular magnets where the length exceeds the diameter, commonly used for recessing into a drilled hole for holding applications where larger magnetic fields are required.

2. Can you make rare-earth magnets?

Fully dense Neodymium Magnets (also known as neo magnets, neodymium iron boron, neo, or rare earth magnets) are usually manufactured by a powdered metallurgical process. Micron size Neodymium and iron boron powder is produced in an inert gas atmosphere and then compacted in a rigid steel mold or in a rubber mold.

3. Do rare-earth magnets work?

Rare-earth magnets are strong permanent magnets made from alloys of rare-earth elements. Developed in the 1970s and 1980s, rare-earth magnets are the strongest type of permanent magnets made, producing significantly stronger magnetic fields than other types such as ferrite or alnico magnets.

4. Does stacking rare-earth magnets make them stronger?

Stacking multiple magnets together can make them stronger. Two or more magnets stacked together will exhibit nearly the same strength as a single magnet of the combined size.
