Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Should a kids bike have a kickstand?

1. Kid's bikes: Yes. Any kid's bike that does not have training wheels should have a kickstand. For most parents, the reasoning is, "He/She shouldn't be laying that brand new bike in the grass." Actually, laying in the grass temporarily is not really harmful to a bike.

2. Why don't they put kickstands on bikes anymore?

So why do bikes not have kickstands? Kickstands aren't on road and mountain bikes because they add weight and increase the chances of your bike snagging something. Road cyclists want bikes to be light. Mountain bikers are worried that a kickstand will catch vegetation while riding down trails.

3. What age is best for a balance bike?

18 months or 2 years old is a perfect time to start a toddler on their balance bike journey. Introducing a balance bike early will allow your toddler to learn to ride independently from the very start. With little ones, a lightweight bike is especially key!

4. How do you measure a kids bike for a kickstand?

Hold the bike on a hard surface so it leans slightly to the left. Measure from the center of the bottom bracket down to the floor. This measurement (in millimeters) is the shortest kickstand you should buy.
