Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What should the humidity be in a refrigerator drawer?

Use the Humidity Zones Wisely As a general rule of thumb, use the low-humidity setting for anything that rots easily. That means apples, pears, avocados, melons or stone fruits. The high-humidity drawer is great for anything that wilts—think thin-skinned vegetables like asparagus or leafy vegetables like greens.

2. Should produce drawer be high or low humidity?

Use the Low-Humidity Crisper Drawer for Foods That Rot Easily. “Produce that emits ethylene gas—and has a tendency to rot—would benefit from being stored in the low-humidity crisper drawer,” says Kharlamenko.

3. How do you adjust the humidity in a refrigerator drawer?

Most humidity drawers are adjustable with a few clicks between low and high. These settings simply open or close a window in the drawer. For the low humidity setting, the window is completely open; for the high humidity setting, it is completely closed.
